Leader’s Biography 2002:
Executive Director, Asian Immigrant Women Advocates, Oakland, CA
A Korean immigrant, Shin launched Asian Immigrant Women Advocates (AIWA) to empower Asian immigrant women in California factories to create healthier working conditions. AIWA sponsors literacy classes, injury prevention workshops, a clinic to treat ergonomic injuries and a sewing lab where workers design low-cost workstations improvements.
