Leader’s Biography 2005:
Executive Director, Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, Baltimore, MD
Unwilling to accept the fact that children are exposed to hazardous environments, especially in their own homes, Norton has dedicated herself to the prevention of lead poisoning in children. Norton transformed the Coalition from a program staffed by one person to a 35-person organization providing primary prevention and direct services to thousands of at-risk clients. Under her leadership, the Coalition has played a significant role in reducing childhood lead poisoning in Baltimore by 91% in less than a decade.
