Figueroa overcame a turbulent youth of drug abuse and gang violence to head an organization that provides housing, substance abuse treatment and AIDS programs to Brooklyn’s most troubled neighborhoods. This program serves more than 2,000 residents a year and reaches 20,000 more through outreach initiatives.
