Executive Director, California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness Program, Berkeley, CA
Using funds from the settlement of a lawsuit against a cereal manufacturer, Hinkle created a fitness program that tackles the obesity epidemic among California’s low-income adolescents. Long after the initial settlement monies are gone, CANFit continues to provide grants to 60 youth groups for such projects as a fast food survival guide and a hip-hop fitness video.
