Leader’s Biography 1997: Director of Latino Health Projects, Health Promotion Council, Philadelphia, PA When Rosales, a former teacher, fled her native Guatemala to come to the United States in 1981, she spoke no English. Today, she directs the only culturally sensitive diabetes education program conducted in Spanish in Pennsylvania. Her easy-to-read guides and cookbooks serve a dual purpose of literacy and health education to a largely immigrant multicultural community.
